Our client's contracting business needs to bring in someone to work with the current controller, primarily on accounts payable and payroll functions. This is an opportunity for someone who has solid accounting experience or training and who might even potentially be a candidate for eventually taking on a controller role. The opening is full-time, with the option to design your regular hours to start between 7 and 8am and your workday to end at 3 or soon after depending on lunch hour arrangements. The environment is casual (jeans) and most employees are long-term staff who take care of each other.
You'll need to have an understanding of accounting and payroll principles and QuickBooks fundamentals, with the ability to handle:
- Processing payroll and tax payments, including fuel taxes
- Performing day to day financial transactions, including accounts payable processing
- Monitoring accounts and coordinating with vendors to ensure payments are up to date
- Assisting with bids/proposals
- Other duties as assigned.
Starting pay will be based on the experience and skill level of the candidate selected, with the top of the range being influenced by any knowledge of the construction industry.
